From right now until the end of September, I challenge you to UP your game!
In addition to the classes we do on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, up your game 2 other days a week! Here is the Challenge:
(1) Get 10,000 steps each day
AND
(2) 2 days of the week go HARD for 10 minutes of your exercise. That is 10 minutes of whatever level of effort for you is hard. You might have to change pace during those 10 minutes, as we cannot sustain a max effort for that long, but what is your max effort during those 10 minutes?
The BENEFITS:
*You are pushing your body to create new pathways for oxygen to get picked up in your lungs and delivered to your muscles.
*You are switching "gears" to burn energy in multiple ways:
(1) You will burn carbohydrates (glucose) at a high rate during your intense workout.
(2) You will utilize fat and glucose at a higher rate for an extended time after you finish your workout.
*Your stress hormones, including cortisol and adrenaline have to be recruited during intense exercise. This means that they are prompted to "reset" or drop after your exercise session. (This is REALLY interesting stuff!) The result is a better regulated stress response system, which is part of the reason people tend to feel better mentally and emotionally when they exercise.
The list goes on, but you get the idea.
It is just a little bit of time, a generous amount of effort, and big potential pay off...
You won't know the outcome unless you start.
Let's do this!
